Are They Awake or Nah: The evolution of "Trap Music Rappers"

The Chosen Ones
"Are They Awake or Nah"

So is ATL  Rapper Young Jeezy actually an enlightened person? I don't know if I can truthfully answer that but why else would he have done the infamous Malcolm X pose for a previous mix-tape cover. In this day and age the new generation of trap rappers are only focused on the bling and drug use.  Artist like Lil Uzi Vert and Chief Kief are prime examples of the new generation and how drug use is glorified, during Young Jezzy time drug use was frowned upon, all  he rapped about was being the drug dealer not the drug user. There has been a noticeable change in lyrics and not for the sake of good. This new generation of rappers are lost and confused as to what “Trap Music” is all about, in my day trapping was about living through the struggle as a black man and turning to the streets to sale drugs just to make a living. In all honesty I am worried about youth living in urban communities, opportunities are not presented to them and they fall through the cracks following the same footsteps of the rappers thinking it is the only way out. I am afraid for the future of young men of color and hope to see a turnaround in the music industry soon fore if there is not a change the future of young black men will be doomed.
